This is one of the stranger things you can venture out to see in Bali, located in South Kuta along Jalan Nasa Dua Selatan road it’s about a 5 minute drive from Pandawa beach and you can easily spot it on the satellite feature on google maps!
Getting There: renting a motorbike is by far easiest and cheapest
Costs: the entrance fee is 10,000 IDR, motorbike rental 50,000 IDR
Suggested Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour
Nearby Attractions: this could be done in conjunction with a visit some of Uluwatu’s Best Beaches
What’s so special about an airplane in Bali… it’s just plane weird (see what I did there!), inside what appears to be a quarry is a Boeing 737, with no clear route into the quarry it’s pretty incredible it even got there! Supposedly an Australian bought it in parts, shipped it there and then re assembled it…mystery solved!
With containers blocking the view from the road you’ll see that there’s a small shack on the side of the highway where you can head up to the viewpoint you have to pay this random guy sitting in a chair (sometimes it’s a lady selling drinks) 10,000 IDR, it seems pretty hit or miss as to whether or not you have to pay to go and view it as quite often no one is sitting there which makes it a little bit more difficult to spot from the road.
I read in a few old travel blogs that you could get in to explore the plane and walk on the wings and explore the hollowed out remains it. When I arrived there was a security guard manning the gates to the entrance of the quarry and as much as I tried to bribe him to let me in he would not budge, give it a try and you may have more luck than I did!
