After an overnight bus from Yangon I get to Bagan and start exploring some of the temples. The best way to get around is hiring an Electric bike which is more like a moped, so for 7000 Kyat ($4) for 2 days I hire the bike and start exploring all the magnificent temples around Bagan, finally ending at the most popular temple for sunset, which offers great views but is far too crowded and definitely not the best spot for sunset!
On my final day in Yangon I head to one of the famous markets, Scott's market. A cool market to walk around and a completely free activity, great fun for people watching. After which I head to Yangon central station to take the circular train around the city, a 3 hour train ride.
On my first full day in Yangon I meet up with a guy from my hostel Hunter to go out exploring the city, heading first to the number one attraction in Yangon, Shwedagon pagoda one of the largest pagodas in Myanmar. An incredible sight to behold, solid gold plated and standing at over 105m tall it really is an incredible sight. Next we walk the streets of Yangon seeing some of the markets and stumbling across a 19th Century church. These are some of the best things to do in Yangon, Myanmar and a few reasons why Myanmar is a must visit destination!
I fly from Kuala Lumpur to Yangon, Myanmar. A short flight later and i'm in Yangon exploring the largest city in Myanmar. A bit of a strange start when I get taken by a local to his village and end up paying for a tour for $10 that I don't really want to do, one of those scams to watch out for when you arrive in Yangon! I then explore the hustle and bustle of Yangon and check out some of the local area!
